ICE

23Mar07

I haven’t had much time for updating this bad boy in the last week or so, but today I find myself with oodles and oodles of time. Here’s the last bit of CHOICE so I can move on and continue with the meaningless, senseless, and slightly more whimsical posts. ICE is a simple concept that carries on what is at the heart of CHO and no I do not know what is at the center of Margaret Cho’s heart (she’s an angry style comedian if you are unfamiliar with that name). CHO teaches us that we need to Choose How-to Operate and ICE tells us How and when. In Christ is where and How we are supposed to Operate. If we Choose to Operate without Christ, well most of us know what that is like since everybody does it. There are probably even times when Christ, thanks to the Holy Spirit, is Operating within and through us without our even acknowledging that fact.

The point is we need to make it a conscious Choice to Operate in Christ. The next question I would ask or should have asked earlier in my or at the very least taken more to heart is how often should I do this? Is it a one time deal? Do I need make that Choice or decision more often? Is this at all related to my salvation??? For the longest time I’m sure I thought my salvation and my faith brought to life through my actions was what defined my salvation. I have been simply blown away recently by reading and studying some of Paul’s letters. Galatians 5:25 reads, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” The meaning behind this verse needs some context, but I’ll let you go find it. The point is that followers of Christ were once in the flesh, still are in the flesh, but have the Spirit. Those who are not and never have been Christ followers are only in the flesh and have never had the Spirit. I am choosing not to get into whether or not the Spirit or God can work in an unbelievers life for the sake of keeping this post somewhat fit and trim.

Christ followers then have a Choice to make each and Everyday about whether or not they wish to operate in the flesh or in the Spirit. Having the Spirit and walking in the Spirit are two totally different concepts. This was mindblowing for me. It may not be for you. But we all have a CHOICE to make. Choose How-to Operate In Christ Everyday.
