Greener Pastures
I’m not officially calling it quits here on this blog, but I definitely am not going to be even thinking about actively keeping up with it. I fixed the link from my previous post so you can see what I’ve been working on instead of this. OR you could just check it out here. Hope you enjoy.

Very Cool
I haven’t posted in quite some time because I’ve been busy with this. I have lots of thoughts I would like to post about at some point, but this caught my eye yesterday. God’s creation really amazes me sometimes and I am just so encouraged to think about the endless possibilities we cannot even fathom that are in store for all of us.

Reflection Time
Well it’s almost the new year and I haven’t posted in about 2 months. I would go ahead an do a nice reflective post about the year in review, but I won’t. I could talk about feeling God’s presence in my life more this year than any other and how much it scares me, but I won’t. Instead I’m going to talk about something that’s been on my mind: WALL-E.
Yes the adorable, trash compacting robot who longs to hold hands with EVE. All I’d like to say is that I can’t help but love him. Here’s my dilemma though. I’m old enough to remember ’80s movies and have an older sister which has given me the privilege of being privy to movies beyond my years. That is why every time I see WALL-E all I can think about is how much he reminds me of Number 5 from the Short Circuit movies. That’s all I really have to say about that. Probably quite the let down after a 2 month absence. I can tell you to expect more blogging from me in the new year, especially as my big move approaches, and I will let you know where that is going to be happening since it must have a life force of its own.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and enjoy even more commercialization of your holidays next year.
P.S. Pretty sure this generation will be defined not by the stand it takes on the environment, but what we will do about the slavery that still exists and is more prevalent now than ever before history.

Rock the vote?
I’m voting for the first time this year. At least I hope to. I hope fear doesn’t win out. Here’s my fear. Voting is supposed to mean something. Questions about the worth of voting in a predominantly democratic state where the majority of people probably just vote along party lines come to mind; unfortunately, this is not what really worries me. What really worries me is that I might not know enough to make a good choice. Maybe I won’t even know who’s running for certain offices. Not voting in those cases would be better than voting, wouldn’t it??? But if I don’t vote then I’m just facilitating the notion that I can’t do anything to see any change happen because I literally did nothing.
I’m also concerned that those candidates and offices I don’t even know about mean way more than the presidential election. More and more the president seems like a figure head instead of someone who controls the country. Sure he has veto power and can nominate supremes, but what else can he/she (excuse me I haven’t been using she) do that is going to effect me??? I’m not really sure any more. Congress can accomplish things without the president, but not really the other way around…right?
So I’m scared to rock the vote because the vote might actually wind up rocking me and most definitely our economy.

Go ahead rock the vote in droves and see what happens when rocking the vote without knowing what you’re rocking does.

Around the Corner
I’ve been hearing a bunch about Christmas lately. You know, how it must be right around the corner and retail stores must get their stores appropriately ready for such an event. Not that Halloween or Thanksgiving have yet to arrive, but hey it’s just around the corner. And it’s got me thinking. I really do not want to do Christmas this year. Not Christmas as usual anyway. My mom has talked for the last few years about trimming Christmas back a bit, which we have, and doing something different with our money.
I’ve been thinking recently about what I can do with my money other than spend it on myself. Christmas seems like a wonderful opportunity to seriously bless some other people instead of looking to get something from someone. I think it might be a little weird to not have the traditional big Christmas gift unwrapping time, but I’m pretty pumped about doing it. Actually following through on one of those things you always say you’d like to do for others.
It’s something to think about for sure. Maybe this will encourage you to think about what you are doing for Christmas this year because hey, it’s just around the corner.

Big Issue!!!!
Ok, maybe not so big. But I’ll bet this gets little attention until after the election and first snowfall. Then everyone will be running around with their heads cut off…inside their homes. This article I just read was talking about the ridiculous price and scarcity of road salt this year. I’m sure this is going to mean more accidents on the road this winter, but the more intriguing possibility is people not being able to go anywhere because they don’t feel safe on the roads. That and the fact that with higher prices and less salt schools and businesses are bound to shut down quite a bit this winter. Just a guess, but I’m throwing it out there now so you can stockpile on your canned goods, blankets, flashlights, and candles. I wish you good luck in your homes this winter!

Cheap cheap music
If you haven’t heard by now, then let me be the first to tell you. The Russians, while needing a cautious eye for cozying up with Hugo Chavez, have dirt cheap music you can download from multiple sites. Basically Russian laws are different than American laws. Now it is definitely debateable whether or not this is entirely legal in the United States, but court cases trying to shut down these sites or saying it is illegal have failed. Now when I say cheap I’m talking $2 an album. There have been a few sites that have been really popular that have been forced to either shut down or take away certain payment options, which is really just a way to get around not having to deal with constant court cases.
Here’s my point: There are two sites that I currently use. The first is offering a bonus for friends referred and its pretty significant, especially when you are talking $2 an album. The second has a slightly smaller catalogue of albums, but archives all of your purchases in case you ever have a hard drive crash or something similarly catastrophic. I would recommend either, but seeing as how it’ll be easy for you to refer friends as well and benefit with free money to download music with I would recommend the first site. Simply click on any of the links to the first site and sign up in order for me to get credit or not I suppose, but as long as you’re signing up you might as well help somebody out with some free music

The Great Displacement
It was an interesting day coming back from a wedding so I would be able to get to work on time. I remembered as I was walking up the stairs about the slight leakage problems I have in my room while I thought about just how much rain had fallen over the past few days (definitely more than an inch since my friend got their engagement ring for free from the jewelers for having over an inch of rain on their wedding day). I was expecting maybe some over flow from the pots and what not I had left to defend my floor. What I found was wet floor. Not entirely soaked and not all over the room. Fairly localized to one corner of my room, but way worse than I had imagined. New leaks had apparently sprung thanks to the torrential downpours from this weekend.
I won’t lie I was more than a little upset. Didn’t my roommates, who have lived here longer than I have and in my room before me, know it was this bad? Shouldn’t our landlord have done something about this already? Why do I care about my stuff getting wet? That last one is the one that gets me and encourages me to address the situation, but not to get too caught up in what happens to a few things when they get wet. Knowing people who are voluntarily living in a van helps to keep things in perspective…especially when one of my friends and I are thinking about following in The Forerunners footsteps beginning next May. I’m hopeful that even if we do not follow in their footsteps that I will be able to take a more accurate appraisal of “my” things and start to eliminate things that become unnecessary when you live in a van.
I’m hoping for a Great Displacement to be taking place in my life while I’m in my current season of life. I’m not sure how long it will last or where it will take me (maybe nowhere but BloNo, IL), but I’m excited to be displaced. To be inconvenienced. And I pray I won’t wine too much even though that’s what I really want to do when there’s a whole in my ceiling and puddles in my room.

Chavez
Chavez worries me. As does his growing relations with the Russians. I’d be interested in seeing if there have been any connections between Putin, the PM and still real leader of Russia, and Chavez. I am not worried about the oil production of Venezuela hurting my prices at the pump. I am much more concerned of entering into another cold war or worse because of Chavez and his distaste for the American government. Perhaps this is more conspiracy theory than anything, but I like to spin my wheels. And I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on what happens from here…like the Russian bomber planes that were invited by Chavez to Venezuela.

The golden boy falls
I feel compelled to talk about Tom Brady getting injured on Sunday. Maybe you were happy he was injured because of your hatred for the Patriots and any dynasty like them or perhaps you were sad for him as human being. You may have even rejoiced that your fantasy team now has a chance with your main competition losing Brady. Either way it’ll be interesting to see what develops at the QB position in Foxborough. Belichick doesn’t seem to concerned.
Here’s my suggestion, which isn’t worth much: Sign Daunte Culpepper. It obviously has its risk since he hasn’t really looked in Pro Bowl form the last couple of seasons and announced his retirement at the beginning of this season after he seemed to gain no interest from teams. But Belichick and all of us would do well to remember that Moss was Culpepper’s favorite target and hasn’t quite been the same without him. There is no telling how Moss will do now that Brady can no longer be part of that dynamic duo. Perhaps it is time to reunite the former dynamic duo, east coast version.
